Of Crying out Love and laying Bare

Ah.. An update after such a long lapse...
Well got to know that ZY is doing well in Perth, did a career switch and is now a headhunter..
Got himself a new apartment too, complete with 2 bedrooms and a sun balcony right in the heart of the city and 10min drive away from his office. I should pay him a visit at the end of the year.

Life's a bore the past weeks. Managed to catch a movie or two. The last one being -
Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World

Totally enjoyable, totally heart wrenching if not for the stoopid restless Ah Lians sitting behind us who just keep on ranting non stop with their own narration. Well nuisances aside, the young protagonists in the movie are just simply adorable. The young actors, Mirao Moriyama & Masami Nagasawa, protrayed their characters with such life that u'll just giggle, laugh, cry and feel with them..

Then again the movie is not for everyone i suppose..
just for suckers for the genre and the young at heart. *sniggers*

Rediscovered this CD that was just lying below my heap of cds...

Annie Lennox - Bare

Released in 2003, It is Lennox's latest solo outing after  8 years.
I remembered I was quite disappointed with the album when I
first listened to it. I'm a big fan of her Medusa album and this album
I felt is quite a letdown.

Think I might have formed my opinion too early, cos this album
is so different. There's just so many layers to the songs.
The mood is dark, and creeps on you like your fears that you try hard to run away from.
On the album cover:

...I'm not a young artist in their early twenties...
...I am a mature woman facing up to the failed expectations of life and facing up to "Core" issue ...This time I have now turned to face the audience eye to eye, as it were, I am as "Bare" as the title suggests...

I realised that for most of the tracks, beneath all the despair and helplessness, there's a message.. of hope.. of resilience to face the difficulties that comes and ability to pick ourselves up again when we fall..

Lennox's analysis of one of my fav track:
Pavement Cracks: "Children have such an instinctive way of reacting to the world. They skip because they're happy. They delight in the moment - in the macaroni on the plate before them. We lose that freshness as we grow. Life knocks it out of us. Yet still, there's this miraculous capacity for new growth. In my darkest times, I'd walk with my head bowed, seeing only the cracks in the pavement slabs. But then I'd notice the weeds pushing up through them, like a metaphor for hope. All is not desperate. Change comes, even when it seems it won't."

It must be the season for self reflection, the movie, the album, all containing such strong message to inexorably stand for your beliefs. To face our fears and tie up loose ends. Not to live in the past and look ahead.
Hahaha... I'm so easily brainwashed...NOT!! :P
